History of Gulfstream G450

The Gulfstream G450's lineage traces back to the GIV, which was first developed in March 1983 as a re-engined, stretched-fuselage variant of the Gulfstream III. With a redesigned wing that reduced cruise drag and increased fuel capacity, the GIV made its first flight in September 1985 and received FAA certification in April 1987. The model was later upgraded to the GIV-SP version in 1993 and subsequently rebranded as the G400. Development of the G450 began in 2001, incorporating enhancements from the G400 and the forward fuselage and cockpit of the G550. The G450 received FAA certification in August 2004 and entered service in 2005. Production continued until 2018, solidifying the G450’s reputation as a benchmark in business aviation.
