Private Aircraft Charter Prices

Billable Flight Time
The primary cost factor when renting a private aircraft is the billable flight time, calculated hourly. This includes positioning time, airborne time, and the standard two-hour minimum daily charge, if applicable. Billable flight time is counted from wheels up to wheels down, excluding taxi time.

Aircraft Category
Private aircrafts are classified by size and capacity into different categories. As the category increases, so does the rental cost.

Aircraft Type
Each category of private aircrafts contains various aircraft types, with some being more expensive due to factors such as comfort, performance and demand. Prices can vary by €200 to €1,800 per hour or more.

Age of Aircraft
Newer aircraft command higher hourly rental rates compared to older models. Price differences can range from €100 to €900 per hour or more.

Crew Overnight Fee
Crew overnight and per diem charges range between €180 and €360 per crew member per night, covering food, lodging and other expenses related to being away from home.

Short-Leg Fee
Short-leg fees generally apply to larger aircraft categories and are determined by the aircraft owner for flights under a specified duration. Standard short-leg fees in the industry vary by jet category: 2 hours for Super Midsize and Large Jets, 2.5 hours for Ultra-Long-Range Jets, and 3 hours for VIP Airliners.

Aircraft Positioning Costs
Aircraft positioning fees depend on the flight time required to position the aircraft to pick up passengers and to return to its home base.

Hangar Fees
Hangar fees are typically incurred in icy conditions to prevent ice, snow or frost from accumulating on aircraft surfaces and to avoid de-icing costs. Hangar fees range from €450 to €1,350 per day depending on the size of the aircraft.

Wi-Fi Charges
Wi-Fi fees range from €2.70 to €7.60 per megabyte depending on the region.

Pet Cleaning Fees
Pet cleaning fees are sometimes charged when a mishap occurs, requiring deep cleaning and carpet shampooing. Typically, a standard carpet shampoo costs between €225 and €450 or more.

De-icing Charges
De-icing is necessary whenever snow, ice or frost accumulates on aircraft surfaces. The cost is charged per application, ranging from €300 for smaller aircraft to €9,000 or more for larger aircraft.

Fuel Surcharge
A fuel surcharge is applicable when there is a surge in market fuel prices. Fuel surcharges can add €300 to €800 per hour or more depending on the size of the aircraft.

Italian Luxury Tax
The Italian Luxury Tax is charged when flying in or out of the Italian territory. Each passenger is taxed on every leg of their flight. For flights up to 1,500 km, the tax is €100 per passenger. For flights over 1,500 km the tax is €200 per passenger.

Conversely, two passengers on the same jet may carry up to four items each. Larger aircraft generally offer more luggage space.
