Istanbul Atatürk (ISL) for Private Jets

Since airline flights moved to the new Istanbul Airport in 2019, Atatürk Airport on the European side has become the city's main airport for private jets. It is 16 km west of Taksim and closer to the historic centre and the Bosphorus than either of Istanbul's airline airports.

Private terminal and FBOs. Business aviation in Istanbul uses the general aviation terminal, away from the queues of commercial airlines. Immigration, customs and security are handled on site, 24 hours a day, and ground handling agents (FBOs) look after passengers and crews, so you can be in the car within minutes of landing.

Three airports. Istanbul has three airports that take business jets: Atatürk for private aviation, the new Istanbul Airport (İstanbul Havalimanı) for airline connections and Sabiha Gökçen on the Anatolian side. We choose the airport that saves you the most time.

Runway. The runway takes every business jet, including long-range aircraft such as the Falcon 7X and Global 6000, so non-stop flights to London, the Gulf or Central Asia are routine.

Open around the clock. Atatürk operates 24 hours a day, which suits late departures after meetings and early arrivals.

Flights within Turkey. Flights within Turkey, for example to Ankara, Bodrum, Antalya or Cappadocia, are operated by aircraft registered in Turkey. We arrange the right aircraft for each leg of a multi-leg trip, so you do not need to think about it.

Distances are in a straight line from Taksim Square. For the summer coast we fly directly to Bodrum or Dalaman, and for Cappadocia to Nevşehir Kapadokya Airport, each about an hour from Istanbul.

Istanbul is a popular destination in every season, for business travellers and for leisure, and private flights follow both rhythms.

History and culture. The city has been home to the Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman empires. Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace and the Blue Mosque are about 25 minutes from Atatürk, and iconic hotels such as the Four Seasons Hotel Istanbul at Sultanahmet, the Four Seasons at the Bosphorus and Çırağan Palace Kempinski are ready to welcome you straight from the private terminal. In April the Istanbul Film Festival adds to the cultural calendar.

Business. Istanbul links Europe, the Gulf and Central Asia. Many clients fly in for a day of meetings in the business districts on the European side and leave the same evening — Atatürk's 24-hour business aviation operation and short drive to the city make this easy.

The Bosphorus. In Istanbul, waterfront hotels and private villas (yalı) line both shores of the Bosphorus. Your chauffeur can take you from the aircraft straight to the hotel or to a private boat on the water.

The Aegean coast. From May to October demand shifts south: Bodrum, the most popular summer destination, is about 1 hour 5 minutes away, from €8,650 one way, and Dalaman serves the yacht harbours further south. Summer weekends sell out early, so book 2–3 weeks ahead.

Cappadocia. A popular addition to a trip to Istanbul: Nevşehir Kapadokya Airport is about 1 hour 15 minutes away in a light jet, from €9,500 one way including tax, close to the cave hotels and the hot-air balloon flights at sunrise.

Flying to Istanbul with Pets

Dogs and cats can fly in the cabin with you on a private jet. We check the requirements for every flight.

Arriving in Turkey
• Microchip — implanted before the rabies vaccination.
• Rabies vaccination — valid on the day of travel.
• A pet passport or a veterinary health certificate; the documents are checked on arrival.

Flying from Istanbul to the UK
• Turkey is an “unlisted” country for pet travel to Great Britain: your pet needs a rabies blood test taken at least 30 days after vaccination, and you must wait 3 months from the date of the blood sample before travel.
• The aircraft operator must be approved for pet travel on the route into Great Britain, and dogs need tapeworm treatment by a vet 1–5 days before arrival.

Flying from Istanbul to the EU
• Rules for pets coming from Turkey are stricter than within the EU, and a rabies blood test is usually required. We confirm the requirements for your route when you book.

Tell your charter manager about your pet when you request a quote — not every operator accepts pets, and the UK rules need planning months ahead.
