Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport (Liszt Ferenc Nemzetközi Repülőtér) is the principal international airport serving Budapest, the capital of Hungary. Located 16 kilometres from the city centre, the airport offers excellent accessibility for both business and leisure travellers. In 2011, it was renamed in honour of Ferenc Liszt, the celebrated Hungarian composer, marking the 200th anniversary of his birth.
The airport originally opened in 1943 but was significantly damaged during the Second World War. It underwent extensive reconstruction and reopened in 1950 as a fully civilian airport. Since then, it has continuously evolved to meet the demands of modern air travel. The airport currently operates two runways, with lengths of 3,707 meters and 3,010 meters. These runways can accommodate a wide variety of aircraft, including all types of business jets and large VIP airliners like the Boeing Business Jet, providing extensive operational flexibility.
The General Aviation Terminal at Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport is dedicated to private jet passengers, offering a high level of privacy and efficiency. All pre-flight and post-flight formalities are handled swiftly in this terminal, allowing passengers to arrive just 30 minutes before their scheduled departure. The terminal is equipped with amenities designed to ensure comfort and convenience, such as private lounges, fast-track security clearance, and personalised services tailored to meet the needs of discerning travellers.
In addition to its capabilities for private jet operations, Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport is a critical hub for commercial aviation, handling millions of passengers annually. The airport’s extensive facilities and services support a wide range of international connections, bolstering Hungary’s tourism and business sectors. The continuous improvements and expansions at the airport underscore its importance as a key player in European air travel.
