Graz Thalerhof International Airport (Flughafen Graz Thalerhof) is located 10 kilometres south of the city centre. The history of the airport dates back to 1914, when the first unpaved runway was opened. In 1951, the first concrete runway was built. In 1998, the runway was reconstructed and is now 3,000 metres long, which makes it possible to fly all types and models of private aircraft. Graz Airport closes at night, which should be taken into account when planning a late arrival or a very early departure. For an additional fee, airport opening hours can be extended or opened earlier.
The passenger terminal has a separate section for private aircraft passengers. Pre-flight formalities are minimal and it is sufficient to arrive 30 minutes before departure.
